Both Candidates For Mayor Work Hard To Earn Your Vote

The two people running for mayor of Lexington have only a few more hours left to campaign, before voters make their decision over who will lead the urban-county government for the next four years.

It's down to the wire and the candidates are pulling out all the stops. Soon Lexington's mayor will be either incumbent Teresa Isaac or challenger Jim Newberry.

Attorney Jim Newberry burned up the phone wires making last minute calls to backers and potential voters. The message was to come to the polls and vote for him.

Isaac, as is her practice, used the final hours for a door to door campaign after presiding over the dedication of a new fire station, not due to open for another month. The dedication fit neatly into her day before election schedule.

Interestingly, Jim Newberry was also on hand for the dedication. The two candidates did not speak with one another. The fire of the election is about to be put out. The main themes of the campaigns are familiar by now. Isaac urging people to vote for experience and Newberry declaring it's time for a change.
