FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - People looking to dip in a public pool this weekend may be in luck.
Most Kentucky state park swimming pools will be open in time for
Memorial Day weekend, following renovations to meet a new federal
law. Some state park pools, however, won't be open in time.
A federal law signed in 2007 requires pools to have safety upgrades for their drainage systems. The law is intended to prevent underwater hazards.
State parks Commissioner Gerry van der Meer says all 50 pools and spas in the state parks system will be open as soon as possible.
