Residents in the Patchen Wilkes subdivision in Lexington have been dealing with burglaries and acts of vandalism since November. The most recent hit came sometime overnight between Friday and Saturday.
The subdivision sits off of Winchester Road and is made up of newer homes. Residents say there aren't many street lights and all of the homes have their garages in the rear. They believe these characteristics make the neighborhood and easy target for thieves. Additionally, some residents say the fact that so many people drive through the neighborhood to look at the homes makes it hard to tell who might be a would-be thief.
Residents have been speaking to one another in hopes of approaching police about getting more patrols through the subdivision.
