NEWPORT, Ky. (AP) - The Campbell County coroner and the state
medical examiner's office are investigating the deaths of three
county jail inmates over a three-week period.
The three inmates died between April 19 and May 8, but only one
was pronounced dead at the Campbell County Detention Center.
The Kentucky Enquirer reports that the deaths were not caused by
an outside force or by another person.
Chief Deputy Jailer Lt. Col. Dave Fickenscher says the cases are
not related and they were not caused by trauma.
He says the only common thread is that all three inmates were
jailed on drug-related charges.
