I-75 Re-Opened After Several Accidents Shut Down Both Lanes

Rockcastle County Police say I-75, both north and south bound lanes, were closed for much of Thursday due to nearly a dozen accidents near the Mt. Vernon exit.

Police tell us it happened about 4:30 a.m. Thursday and involved tractor trailers and cars. So far we're told at least two people have been taken to the hospital for minor injuries. They have already been treated and released from the hospital. Surprisingly, no one was killed in the wrecks.

At one point Thursday morning, dispatchers described the area as a "black out" due to dense fog. Police say the fog caused very low visibility and they believe it played a factor into the wrecks.
