The investigation into the Comair crash of Flight 5191 continues to move forward, but we may not know any new details for months.

The debris has long since been removed, but the investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board continues. We have word that it may be summer before a final report is released.

In a statement Thursday, the NTSB says the board will not hold a public hearing on this investigation. However, the public docket is expected to open in January. That docket will contain the cockpit voice recorder transcript, flight data recorder information and possible interviews.

The NTSB says, after that, a public board meeting will be held in late spring or early summer. Once the meeting happens, a final report on the investigation will be released. That report will include a probable cause of the crash and potential safety recommendations for everyone involved.
