There is concern at the University of Kentucky Hospital about an infection going around parts of the hospital.

According to a hospital official, the infection is contained to the Intensive Care Units of the hospital. These types of infections are hard to treat because some of them are resistant to all types of anti-biotics.

The hospital released this statement about the infection.
"In our constant effort to maintain the safest environment possible for our patients, UK Chandler hospital has embarked on a systematic disinfecting of all intensive care units. UK Chandler hospital has recently had several cases of a multi-drug resistant organism which appeared to be concentrated in one ICU. As a precautionary and preventative measure the hospital is carrying out this systematic disinfecting to ensure safety and the highest level of care for our patients. There is absolutely no cause for alarm and we continue to vigilantly monitor the situation."

A patient tells 27 NEWSFIRST she contracted the infection in early September and still has it. She says she has been to an infectious disease doctor, but they are still trying to figure out how to rid her body of the infection.

These infections are common in hospitals and UK says they are doing everything they can to monitor it.
