BENTON, Ky. (AP) - Authorities in the Kentucky Lake region say an elderly farmer has been killed in an agricultural accident.

A release from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office in Benton said 78-year-old Elton G. Lee was found dead under his tractor.

An investigation by deputies showed Lee had been using a tractor-mounted rotary mower to cut a field near Benton. The report said Lee had turned off the mower and stopped the tractor at a gate.

Deputies said when Lee tried to get back onto the tractor on Saturday, he apparently slipped and fell under it, knocking the machine into gear.

A neighbor found Lee and shut off the tractor.
