A haz-mat crew spent much of the day on the scene of a crash on I-75 near the 127 mile marker in Scott County.

Officials with the Sheriff's Department say the crash happened just after seven this morning when the truck driver swerved to miss slowing traffic in front of him, and tipped over.

The driver was not injured.

The truck was carrying 2 chemicals used to make soap. One is very caustic, the other is dangerous if it is breathed in or if it comes into contact with the skin.

Members of the haz-mat team were initially the only people allowed within 150 feet of the spill because of the dangerous chemicals.

The northbound lanes were opened at around 11:00. The southbound lanes stayed closed until around 5:00 Monday afternoon.
