Police rule man's death a homicide

Lexington police say a business owner, found injured in his home, was killed.

The Fayette County Coroner tells 27 NEWSFIRST Sower died of blunt force trauma, and they also ruled it was homicide.

A worker found Charlie Sowers badly injured in his Augusta Drive home after he didn't show up for work Wednesday afternoon.

Police say he was found at the bottom of the basement stairs with a serious head injury.

Sowers was the owner of Charlie's Bar on Bryan Station Road. The store was shut for the day on Thursday.

Sowers' brother, Phil Sowers, tells 27 NEWSFIRST money was missing from his brother's home. He also says Charles Sowers' wallet can't be found.

Police spent much of the day at the home on Thursday, searching for evidence.

No word on if there is a suspect at this time.
