Police Chase Near Downtown Lexington

A short police chase near Downtown Lexington Tuesday night.
More than a dozen officers and the police chopper searched for a man who refused to stop and ditched a gun.
It all began when a officer spotted a car running a stop sign at 7th and Maple. Police say the driver, Gary Morris refused to stop and kept driving.
A short pursuit started down 7th. The chopper spotted the chase when it turned on Price Avenue. That's when police say the driver jumped out of the car and ran down an alley before ditching a gun.
The driver remains in jail charged with several charges among them possession of firearm by a convicted felon.
