Doctor pleads not guilty to charge he killed wife with boat

A well-known doctor accused of murdering his wife of 21 years appeared in court Tuesday morning in Boyle County. Dr. Steven Hall had little to say when told of the murder charge against him. His lawyer entered a not guilty plea on Dr. Hall's behalf.

Police say the doctor ran over his wife, Isabel, in Herrington Lake on Friday with the couple's boat.

Police say several people witnessed Hall hit his wife and they believe it was intentional. Court documents show Hall told police he and his wife got into an argument, he threw her off the boat into the lake. He further stated he drove the boat towards her to scare her, but accidentally hit her.

Police and the coroner on the scene Friday said Hall tied his dead wife to the boat so she wouldn't float away.

Steven Hall is scheduled to be back in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing. In the meantime he remains in jail without bond.
