The Kentucky Raise the Wage Coalition met to announce their plans to lobby to have Kentucky minimum wage raised from $5.15 to $7.00. During the meeting two women who are struggling too survive on minimum wage spoke.

"I had to decide what bill to pay at the end of the month and there's never enough. Minimum wage won't get people out of the clear, but it's a start," said Cara Price.

Price says in the last ten years the price of gas, food and clothing has all gone up. But the minimum wage has stayed the same.

According to statistics 275,000 Kentuckians would be affected by an increase in minimum wage. Supporters say it is impossible to live on $5.15 an hour. And they tell 27 Newsfirst if minimum wage would benefit the community because if people make more then they will spend more.
