Very slow moving showers and thunderstorms will move into our area overnight and Sunday. The potential for flooding will be heightened in southern and eastern Kentucky.
The Fernandez family is picking up the pieces, after a car smashed into their home.
It happened on Ward Drive, in the Winburn neighborhood, about 10:00.
The car ran through the front yard of the duplex, tearing down a chain link fence before hitting the home. It smashed into the front door of the right-side unit.
Robin Fernandez says she and her two-hear old daughter were watching television in the living room, when the car crashed there.
Dozens of neighbors gathered in the street to watch investigators try to figure out what happened. The driver of the car ran off.
Neighbors say two men fled from the car.
Lexington Police say the Hit and Run unit will investigate. They tell 27 NEWSFIRST they do have a name of the registered owner, but aren't releasing their name at this time, nor calling them a suspect.
A sign was posted where the front door of the home should be saying that nobody is allowed inside. Fire crews have deemed the house unlivable. Contractors spent Wednesday putting boards up on the home.
