Heavy snow is taking its time moving through the state of Kentucky. This will be a historic once its all said and done with a few spots around a foot of snow.
Wednesday's powerful storms ripped across Kentucky early in the day with a lot of rain and intense lightning.
In many cases lightning hit homes causing minimal to moderate damage to the homes.
But a lightning strike in Mercer County caused a fire at a storage unit, destroying belongings and memories.
The fire broke out at Neal's Storage in Burgin just before noon.
Firefighters tell us at least eight storage units are heavily damaged, leaving quite a mess and heartache for those who stored their belongings there.
We're told nearly all the items stored there was destroyed.
Officials say the storage facility was once a lumber yard. The storage owner does have insurance on the structure so he will be able to rebuild.
