The teenager was taken to UK Medical Center by ambulance. Police tell us she has a broken leg. Now they want to know who is responsible for that injury.
It happened just before eight Tuesday morning at the intersection of Winburn Drive and Barksdale Drive, that's on the northeast side of Lexington.
Police tell 27 Newsfirst a 17 year-old high school student was dropped off there by her grandmother to catch her school bus. While she was waiting for the bus to arrive she was hit by a passing car.
Neighbors say they could hear that something was wrong.
"I heard someone screaming or something like that. I looked out my window and saw someone laying in the street and a lot of people around her," said Vernon Williams.
The only witness to the scene told police the car that hit the teenager was a white four-door. If you have any information call Lexington Police.
