The search is on Tuesday for a jail escapee in Lexington.
Virgil Keith Gifford did not return to the Fayette County Detention Center Tuesday night after his work release.
Gifford was serving time on theft charges.
He only had two months left on his sentence.
The 49-year old will be charged with escape when he is captured.
