Parents arrested after children found wandering

Police say they neglected their children, they say it was all a misunderstanding.

Danville Police arrested Danielle and Harold Adams after their three small children were found wandering near Main and 5th streets, nearly a half mile from their home. It happened Sunday morning.

Police say the children were aged 4,3 and 2 and had reportedly left their home to look for their neighbor's missing dog. One of the children wasn't wearing any clothes.

Danielle Adams talked to 27 NEWSFIRST from the Boyle County Detention Center.

She says she's not a bad mother, but she says that her children are very smart and managed to get out of the house even though the family has installed special locks.

Adams says she was asleep and thought her children were in their beds as well.

Both Danielle and Harold Adams are charged with three counts of wanton endangerment.

The couple's children were taken into protective custody, but we're told they will be released into the care of a relative.
