A rockslide closes one section of a highway in Floyd County.
A rock slide from early Monday morning has a portion of KY 5-50 closed.
This is near highway 8-50 and the Midas bridge area.
"People who live west must travel this way to get to route 80 to get to Hazard. if they work in Martin. it causes them to have to go down around and go in a different direction," said Mike Goble with Kentucky State Police.
Officials say this rock slide happened because of flooding. Thanks to erosion.
"With these cliffs you get the cold weather in the winter time, and run off in the spring, with these types of sandstones...gravity takes over and it falls out on the highway," Goble said.
Officials hope they can reopen the highway later this week.
