Sidewalk dispute in Lexington

A major dispute is going on in Lexington over sidewalks.

City council members are considering an ordinance to accept $800,000 from the Kentucky State Highway Department to construct sidewalks on both sides of Tates Creek Road, between the Enclave and Dove Run Road.

Some leaders favor the sidewalks to help make Lexington more bike and pedestrian friendly.

But, residents who live along that stretch of Tates Creek oppose the sidewalks for reasons of aesthetics and safety concerns.

A vote on the issue is set for Thursday.
