Dictionary.com defines Thanksgiving as "a day set apart for giving thanks to God." Today, many of those less fortunate in Lexington were thanking God and The Salvation Army for Thanksgiving dinner.
The army of 125 volunteers helped prepare a feast for 500 less fortunate Fayette County residents. For the 20th year Lundy's Catering provided turkey and all the trimmings. There were 165 pounds of turkey, 150 loaves of bread and nearly 700 pieces of cake for dessert. Volunteers also made up nearly 100 meals to deliver to those who weren't able to leave home today.
Along with the food, The Salvation Army also provided music, a prayer room and winter coats for any guests who needed them.
There were so many volunteers this year that some had to be referred to other organizations.
