4th of July festivities to go on as planned

The festivities will go on as planned.

On Wednesday morning, the city of Lexington laid out their agenda for the annual 4th of July festival.

Many surrounding communities have had to cut back on their Independence Day plans because of the slow economy, but Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry says you can expect the same great experience you've had in years past.

And on an interesting note, this year's festival will be Red, White, Blue and Green.

The mayor says since the celebration produces so much trash, they're putting more recycling containers downtown.
