Ky. soldier dies in barracks

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A Kentucky soldier being treated for war wounds at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio was found dead in his
barracks.

Spc. Franklin D. Barnett Jr. is the third soldier assigned to a Fort Sam Warrior Transition Unit to have died in the last three months. His body was found Sunday with no obvious likely cause of the death. His case is under investigation.

The 29-year-old Covington, Ky., native served as a combat engineer and was assigned to the Louisiana National Guard.

He received a Purple Heart for wounds suffered in Afghanistan and began treatment in Texas in October.
