48 Hours spotlights Ky. soldier charged with killing wife

Updated: Thu 7:17 PM, Feb 14, 2013

Brent Burke, a Fort Campbell soldier, was convicted of killing his estranged wife, Tracy Burke, and her former mother-in-law, Karen Comer, in Hardin County in 2007.

Burke had four mistrials in civilian court before a military panel found him guilty.

Soon the story will be featured on the CBS television show 48 Hour Mystery.

The crime special will give a look inside the military justice system.

The special also offers an inside look into the murder investigation of Tracy Burke and Karen Comer and the attempted prosecution of their alleged killer-- Army Sergeant Brent Burke.

On September 11th, 2007, Tracy Burke was at home with her three kids and her ex mother-in-law Karen Comer when a gunman broke into the home and shot both women to death.

Sergeant Burke is charged with the crime but this is far from an open and closed case.

After four civilian trials failed to get a verdict, the JAG team has taken over the case.

Sergeant Burke continues to maintain his innocence.

The 48 Hour Mystery, “Honor and Dishonor," will air on Saturday, February 16th at 10 p.m.
