Freak accident kills Mercer County man

A freak accident Sunday afternoon killed a Mercer County man.

The coroner tells 27NEWSFIRST, 25-year-old Anthony Woodard of Burgin was attempting to cut down a tree in the Mallards Cove Community, when it fell on top of him.

Woodard was pronounced dead on scene. The coroner says he died of massive trauma to the head.

Friends of the victim say Woodard was cutting/trimming trees on the side to earn some extra cash to provide for his family.

Woodard was a 2002 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and leaves behind a wife and a child.

Ransdell Funeral Chapel in Harrodsburg is handling funeral arrangements.
