Suspect takes plea deal in murder case

An Iraq war veteran was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to raping and killing a co-worker in Hardin County.

Jeremy Shields entered that guilty plea in exchange for a life sentence. If the case went to trial, he could have been sentenced to death.

Shields is accused of killing Sue Logsdon who he worked with at a shoe warehouse in Elizabethtown.

The News Enterprise reports her half-burned body was found days later in rural Hart County.

Shields will be up for parole in 20-years.
