There's a visible change at the intersection of Nicholasville Road and Alumni drive. City engineers are not only trying to prevent future accidents at the culvert on Nicholasville Rd.

Project organizers plan to put up guard rails around 30 culverts throughout Lexington.

Last September, Lauren Fannin and Lindsay Harp, tried to cross the flooded road and were swept away and died. Engineers are using this tragedy as a stepping stone to make sure all the culverts in Lexington are safe for pedestrians.
