HARDINSBURG, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky man has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for a brutal attack on a woman last year.
The News-Enterprise of Elizabethtown reported that Ernest D. Pine agreed to the plea deal during a hearing Wednesday in Hardinsburg on charges of first-degree rape and sodomy, attempted murder, second-degree assault, burglary and criminal mischief.
Pine was accused of attacking a middle-aged woman and slashing her across the neck with a knife. She survived the August 2008 attack.
Pine initially pleaded not guilty. His trial was set to start in September.
