Father Says He Will Tolerate Protests At Son's Funeral

A Kentucky father says he'll tolerate protesters at his son's funeral, because his son would want him to.

Services for Theodore West are Saturday in Berea. West died while serving in Iraq last week.

Fred Phelps and his followers from the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas say they plan to protest the soldier's funeral.

West says the protest will be painful, but he's focused on remembering his son and his accomplishments.

"It's a slap in the face to Coty, but they're slapping themselves in the face too," said Bill West.

The Phelps group protests military funerals because it believes God hates homosexuality and America tolerates it.

West's father says the protest is pointless.
