Gunman Holds Mother Hostage; Standoff Ends Peacefully

Multiple police departments arrived to the Hillcrest Subdivision in Richmond to a standoff situation.

State police say a 58-year old man, armed with a rifle, had threatened his mother and was holding her hostage. Eventually police say the gunman let his mother out of the home, but the man remained inside refusing to surrender.

State police along with Richmond police tried to talk to the man, hoping to talk him into giving up. The street was barricaded and several neighbors were evacuated from their homes for their own safety.

The suspect finally surrendered to police and was arrested.
