Pit Bull Shot In Head With Arrow; Had To Be Put Down

Video will be available shortly

A woman came home from work Wednesday afternoon only to find her boyfriend's dog shot in the head with an arrow.

Police tell us the dog was taken to a vet for treatment, but had to be put down from its injuries.

The dog's owners say someone broke into their fence and shot their dog in the head. It happened at their home on Freeman Dr. in Lexington. They say they're in disbelief that someone would intentionally hurt their dog.

Police tell us the pit bull's name was Merk. The dog was shot with an arrow at least 12 inches long, that lodge into his head and was snapped off at the other end.

So far police don't have any suspects and are still trying to figure out who's responsible for the crime.
