A Kentucky college student is putting her feet to the pavement, trying to raise money for Africa.

20-year Courtney Cox, from Pendleton County, is walking across the state, from Newport in northern Kentucky to the Tennessee line in McCreary County.

The UK student visited Uganda last summer and hopes to raise enough money to return next summer and help improve some infrastructure.

Cox says keeping positive helps her keep going, even when her feet are covered in blisters.

fnord: No whining here. Simply stating my opinion to which I gather you do not agree. I'm fine with that. But do not misguide yourself with the assumption I am whining. In the first and last part of my previous statement I supported her will to help. Again, in my opinion, a more local approach to help would be better. This is MY opinion, if it comes across as whining, oh well then I'll grab a pacifier and blanket and trike across Kentucky in support for free speech without undo judgment from others...

I think this is awesome for her to be so determined to help these people! I would walk across Kentucky to help us Kentuckians especially the coal miners!

Dave, actually the response should be to get off your own butt and walk across Kentucky to raise money for Kentucky. Rather than whine that she's supporting the wrong cause, you could make your own cause. I applaud the work she's doing -- and she's likely doing more than all of us combined. I'm glad there are people out there who have the time, energy, and faith to do good -- here or elsewhere. It's quite silly to complain about someone's good work and suggest that it just isn't good enough.
