Kentucky Spends $1 Billion in Transportation Projects in 2006

Governor Fletcher signed off on a $24.4 million project to build the new Duncannon Interchange in Madison County Tuesday, pushing the state's commitment over the $1 billion mark.
The project, on I-75 just south of Richmond, will provide an access road to the Richmond Industrial Park, among many other benefits.
State leaders say the $1 billion investment on state roads dwarfs the previous record. Last year, Kentucky spent $760 million on its roads.
It appears the money is being well spent. A recent report from the Reason Foundation ranked Kentucky's Highway System the seventh most efficient in the country.
