A former Garrard County official learned Thursday how long he'll spend in jail for his role in a deadly crash.
Dwayne Nave, who was the Garrard County Emergency Management Director at the time he caused a crash in April of 2007. Test results showed he had alcohol and marijuana in his system at the time. He crashed into another vehicle on US 27. The driver of that car, 43-year old Willard Quinn, died from his injuries.
Nave was originally charged with murder in the case, but pleaded guilty to reckless homicide instead.
Thursday a Garrard County judge sentenced Nave to five years in prison for that charge.

That guy that pistol whipped I'm pretty sure was an ex con, hence there were alot more charges than just him hitting someone else. And as sad as it is if you plead guilty and save everyone time and money you get off easier, especially on your first offense, that's just how the system works.
