Search for Lexington bank robber leads to busy shopping center

Lexington bank robbery - breaking news report

Police search for bank robber

A man robbed the Central Bank on Richmond Road in Lexington just after noon Thursday. Police say he gave the tellers a note and demanded money, but did not show or imply a weapon.

Police tracked the man to the Brannon Crossing shopping center on Nicholasville Road in Jessamine County. Authorities canvassed the area and a nearby golf course, but were not able to find the robber.

Detectives did find the man's clothing and a tracking device that had been put in the money in a dumpster behind the Kroger in Brannon Crossing.

Initial reports described the robber was a white man in his 30s, about 5'8" tall, balding, around 180lbs. No one was hurt in the robbery.

Anyone with information relating to this investigation is asked to please contact the Personal Crimes Section of the Lexington Police Department at (859)258-3700 or Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at (859)253-2020.
