Child's Condition Upgraded After Being Shot

Police say a Montgomery County seven-year-old was shot in the neck by a nine-year-old Wednesday.

Thursday morning, the seven-year-old's condition was upgraded from critical to fair at UK Hospital.

Police say the grandfather of one of the children brought out the gun to put under his bed in fear of recent crime in the neighborhood.

The nine-year-old got a hold of the gun and shot the seven-year-old in the neck.

The bullet went through the neck and out the child's back.

Police say no charges will be filed.
