5 things to know in Kentucky for Election Day

1. POLLS OPEN 6 to 6

Polls are open in Kentucky on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time.

2. THE NAIL-BITER

It's expected to be a long night in the 6th congressional district between incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler and second-time challenger Republican Andy Barr. Barr lost by fewer than 700 votes two years ago.

3. KY GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Democrats are hoping to cut into the Republican majority in the state Senate. Republicans are looking to pick up several House seats.

4. THREAT LEVEL = 0

U.S. Reps. Hal Rogers, Ed Whitfield, Brett Guthrie and John Yarmuth face no serious threats. In the 4th District, tea party Republican Thomas Massie is expected to dominate against Democrat Bill Adkins.

5. RIGHT TO HUNT AND FISH?

Voters across the state will cast ballots to decide whether hunting and fishing should be a constitutional right in Kentucky.
