5-year-old gets special surprise while on a class field trip

MERCER COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - While on a field trip, a 5-year-old girl gets a special surprise.

5-year-old Brooklyn Corson headed to Devine's Pumpkin Patch in Mercer County with her classmates Friday morning. This was her first field trip with her class from the Jessamine Early Learning Village. When she got there, there was a special surprise waiting for her.

Catherine Corson, a soldier in the Army, wasn't supposed to be home from Afghanistan until Christmas. But Corson came home two months early. She hid just feet away from her daughter, waiting for the perfect moment to tell her youngest of three, that mommy is home.

"I'm really excited and it's an overwhelming feeling. I can't believe that it's actually here and I've been home you know like a day and a half to get everything ready. And yeah it's surreal I think," Corson told WKYT.

Corson says it was hard to keep the secret, but worth it to have this special moment with Brooklyn.

Corson now has two other children that don't know she is here yet.
