Accused killer takes plea deal

Accused killer Roger McBeath will not stand trial next week in Scott County as scheduled.

McBeath struck a plea deal with prosecutors Monday.

Scott County jail workers confirmed to 27 NEWSFIRST McBeath pleaded guilty to complicity to murder in the 2004 death of his pregnant, ex-girlfriend Ashley Lyons.

As part of the deal, McBeath will spend 42 years in prison as well as an additional five years for complicity to tamper with physical evidence.

A jury found McBeath guilty of murder in 2004, but that conviction was overturned by the Kentucky Supreme Court.
