New law pushes to make Kentucky new tinsel town

Governor Beshear announced a new film industry incentives bill today. The bill will give production companies the option of taking a sales tax refund.

House Bill 3 was passed during the recent special session and went into effect on June 26, 2009. Already, film-makers have responded with great interest in making Kentucky the set for potential large feature movies.

Gov. Steve Beshear, "This is free publicity of the highest value...By providing these incentives, we're going to attract a new set of business to this state."

The bill was passed as an investment in the film industry and will hopefully create new jobs and expand Kentucky's state revenue.

There is currently a movie being filmed in Lexington. It is titled "Unrequited" and stars Michael Welch from the popular "Twilight" movie.
