When crews arrived at the home on Lisletown Lane, it was already fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters say by the time they made it to the scene it was too late to save the home.
The flames quickly ripped through the house as firefighters frantically battled the blaze.
Crews had to attack the fire solely from the outside. Because of the heavily wooded area there were concerns among many the fire would spread.
Crews say getting down Lisletown Lane was difficult, but keeping their trucks filled with water proved to be the real challenge. They ran out of water several times.
Neighbors tell 27 NEWSFIRST the homeowner moved in a few months ago and is out of town on business. The man's daughter and friend who've been staying there weren't home when the fire started.
Crews say the official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
We're told three dogs were inside the home when the fire started, all of them managed to escape the flames.
