Registration Fees For Vehicles Increase in 2007

Video will be available shortly

Kentucky drivers will have to pay a little more when it comes time to renew your registration in 2007. The prices will go up across the Commonwealth beginning next week.

The registration fee for passenger cars will go up from $15 to $21.
Motorcycle owners will also face registration increases. Owners will now pay $18.50. That's up six dollars.
The price increase will also apply to R.V.'s, trucks, boats, and other vehicles.

Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins says three dollars of the six dollar increase for car registration goes to the operation of his office. Two dollars will help upgrade communications and computer systems statewide, and one dollar helps less populated counties keep pace in services.

"It's been a dozen years or so since the last increase," said Blevins.

The price change goes into effect Wednesday, January 3rd.
