Rounds of showers and storms continue to develop. Some of these could be strong and put down very heavy rainfall. Watch for local high water issues.
A recent shoplifting spree at a Dollar General store in Nicholasville has troubled police. That's because surveillance video of the crime shows what appears to be a mother teaching her kids how to steal. The video was captured on June 17th at the Edgewood Plaza Dollar General store in Nicholasville.
"It's just a bad situation," said Nicholasville police officer Scott Harvey.
The video shows a woman with two adolescents carrying large purses. They spend several minutes in aisles containing shoes and undergarments. At various times in the video, you can see the woman and the children putting items into their bags. One girl put on a pair of new shoes while stuffing her old pair in her purse.
Police say they do not spend much time on shoplifting crimes because they are usually misdemeanors. However, they are concerned about thie circumstances in this case especially since minors are involved.
"Mom could be facing charges stemming from the Cabinet for child neglect or contributing to the delinquency of a minor," Harvey said.
Nicholasville police have not identified the three suspects and have attempted to speak with another person who was with the suspects. That person did not steal items from the store but has thus far been uncooperative with police.
