Police Patrol Streets For Drunk Drivers This New Year's Eve

Lexington police will be out in full force this New Year's night. As many celebrate the new year with drinks, police say they'll be searching for people driving under the influence.

Lexington police will conduct a safety checkpoint on South Limestone, near Euclid Avenue, all to help keep the streets safe tonight.

The checkpoint will start around 9:30 p.m. and is expected to last until 3:30 in the morning.

Police say after midnight they will start giving out citations to motorist who are not wearing their seat belts. That comes after the seat belt law that takes effect January 1st, 2007.
