A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is out for for much of northern and eastern Kentucky until 9 p.m. This is just east of the Lexington metro.
He was on vacation in the Myrtle Beach area, but now a Kentucky man faces arson charges after he's accused of setting fire to several businesses.
The suspect is 21-year old Gavin Gregory Wells of Leslie County. Investigators say he was captured running from the scene and had singed hair on his arms and head. Wells was reportedly on vacation in Garden City, South Carolina.
Now the Kentuckian is sitting in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, facing charges of arson. Investigators say Wells is connected with the burning of several businesses after a fire started just after midnight Monday morning.
Witnesses say Wells intentionally set a vehicle on fire near the buildings, appearing to be intoxicated. Others reportedly saw Wells throwing lawn furniture into a marsh area behind the businesses.
Horry County Police say one of their officers saw flames coming from the building and a man with singed hair on his arm and head running from the scene. Wells was later arrested Monday afternoon.
Coldwell Banker Chicora, Woody's Bench Rentals and J& P Property Management were the three businesses that were damaged. No one was reported injured in the fire.
