School Bus Accident Injures Students

By: Ashley Davidson Email

This afternoon, three Scott County students and a bus driver are recovering after an early morning collision with a tree.

The accident happened on Locust Fork Road around seven this morning. Lee Barbee saw it as he was going to get his newspaper.

"I'm half asleep and this tree explodes in my front yard," said Barbee.

Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies tell WKYT-TV the bus’ right rear tires went off the road in a curve.

"It traveled for about 150 feet or so with the wheels off the road," said Geral Porter, a sheriff deputy.

The driver then over corrected and slammed into a tree.

The children’s injuries were minor but the principal at Stamping Ground Elementary says there were some concerned parents.

The driver of the bus, Robert Grossel, suffered a broken arm.
