Some of the best, young cyclists in the world were roaring through downtown lexington Friday night for a special event.
The "Tour of the Red River Gorge" is a five-stage, international, competition. Elite junior cyclists raced the last couple of days through Powell and Clark counties. Tonight's stage, the fifth of the tour, was a ninety-minute race on a one- mile course through the streets of downtown Lexington. The riders collect points during the different stages, and like the Tour de Rrance, the leader wears a special jersey. Organizers say the event promotes cycling and tourism.
