Hundreds of Mercer County residents turned out at the Mercer County Fairgrounds Saturday night to honor Eddie Goodlett. Goodlett died on July 1st in a freak accident.
Goodlett owned the Thurman Goodlett and Sons Wrecking Company and scrap yard. He was well-known for working the heavy-duty vehicles driven by so many of his clients. He died when a truck he was working on fell on him.
Friends and family of Goodlett honored him at the Mercer County Fair and Horse Show's Truck Pull. The first class of the evening was named in his honor and participants' entry fees went into a memorial fund for his family. Goodlett's wife and children served as grand marshals in the parade leading up to the fair.
