Police now know what killed a young man found dead on Doe Creek Road in Estill County. Massive head trama killed 22 year-old Leonard G. Crank caused most likely by a hit and run, according to police.

A passerby found the body of Crank, laying on the left lane of the road early Sunday morning.

Crank was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crank's body was taken to the Frankfort medical examiner to determine his cause of death.

Police say Crank lived close to where he was found.

Crank was a student at Eastern Kentucky University. His friends say he had a promising future, and had dreams of becoming an author.

Just three years ago, Crank's father was convicted of shooting and killing Crank's mother at the family's home.

But Crank's friends say he still loved life, and was an inspiration to them.
