COLUMBIA, KY -- Four arrests have been made by the Kentucky State Police following investigations into multiple fires in Boyle and Marion Counties. And, authorities say they expect more arrests.

KSP Post 15 in columbia identified the four as volunteer firefighters from Boyle and Marion Counties; 19-year old Stephen E. Oberson of Gravel Switch, 22-year old Melinda A. Oberson of Perryville, 24-year old James R. Tate of Perryville, and 21-year old Frederick E. Tate of Harrodsburg.

The four have been charged with second degree arson, second degree burglary, first degree wanton endangerment and first degree criminal mischief.

All four were lodged in the Marion County Detention Center in Lebanon. All of the accused were volunteer firefighters with Boyle County and Gravel Switch (Marion County) fire departments.

KSP Post 15 Arson Investigator Alex Wesley and Post 7 Arson Investigator Pat Alford are investigating and believe more arrests will follow.

Miss central full time firefighters wife, annexing some of our communities would not change a thing for full-time fire-fighters, doing that would cause the firestations to be so far apart, that they would be of no use by the time they get there. Pike Co. is the largest co in the state and I resent your comment. Maybe if so much of our coal severance tax money wouldn't go your way, then maybe we could afford paid firefighters.

Many may not realize that even as volunteers, you must carry the same training hours and classes as your "professional" firefighter and many volunteer departments are ran by off-duty "professional" firefighters. I think this is just a case of a few bad apples in a bag, it could happen anywhere and maybe it does and we just don't hear about it or they just don't get caught. But I would not ever suggest or say that just because someone in a position like they were that does something wrong such as this should have everyone in that type of profession compared to them.If that were the case then why are all doctors not bad people just because there are a select few who tend to mess up their career by commiting crimes.
